Our History

Legacy Buying Cooperative
In 1953, Associated Buyers Co. (ABCO) establishes the business mission of aggregating collective buying power to empower distributors to compete with the nationals. Over the next 50 years, the ABCO model expands to acquire and operate individual buying cooperatives, known for their regional and specialty focus. NDC, Inc. is established (1996) as the parent company to individual co-ops, eventually including StarLine Dealers Association, Central Independent Dealers Association (CIDA), American Dental Cooperative (ADC), United Dental Dealers (UDD) and MOtion1.

Legacy Co-op Consolidation
Legacy buying groups are consolidated to provide better service, accelerated collective buying power and streamlined operations for all NDC distributors and manufacturers. Annual publications and meetings are combined to allow NDC and manufacturer partners a single platform and channel to reach all NDC distributors efficiently.

First Liquidity Event
NDC is successfully recapitalized in 2010 for the first time in the company’s history. NDC partners with Silver Oak Partners and becomes a fund 1 portfolio company.

Healthcare Supply Chain Solution
NDC completes a corporate rebranding, which showcases NDC’s expanded position in the supply chain as a total healthcare supply chain solution. NDC elevates both manufacturers and GPOs to customer status, paving the way for rapid growth over the following years.

Physician Buying Group Acquisition
NDC acquires Main Street Vaccines, a national physician buying group that provides best prices on quality vaccines and cost savings opportunities to approximately 7,000 physicians across the country. Learn more.

Homecare Footprint Expansion
NDC acquires Dedicated Distribution and Healthcare Supply Solution (HSS), which serve as footholds for expansion into the homecare market. These regional distributors provide additional distribution centers and business platforms to support NDC’s growth trajectory into new markets.

Pharmaceutical Offering
NDC opens the NDC Pharmaceutical Warehouse, providing an expanded offering of pharmaceutical products to meet customer needs and support growth initiatives with an expanding formulary.

Infusion Market Expansion
NDC enters the infusion market with the acquisition of Wolf Medical Supply, a leading full-line, national distributor of infusion and clean room supplies to hospitals and pharmacies, representing the largest manufacturers as well as an exclusive in-house brand, Wolf-Pak®. Learn more.

Post-Acute Solution for HME/DME Providers
NDC acquires Preferred Medical, a national distributor that historically serviced the long term and extended care markets. Preferred Medical serves as the flagship company for NDC’s post-acute expansion, ultimately resulting in successfully integrating both Dedicated Distribution and Healthcare Supply Solution (HSS) under the Preferred brand, broadening the customer base to fully represent across post-acute and HME/DME markets.

Expansive Vaccine Offering
NDC’s acquisition of National Physician Care, Inc. (NPC) empowers NDC to be one of the first companies to offer total vaccine solutions from all leading manufacturers. This strategic addition to the company’s portfolio, as well as the acquisition of National Discount Vaccine Alliance (NDVA), extends the reach of physicians to over 15,000 offices.

Distribution Footprint Expansion
As NDC’s master distribution focus expands to include alternate-site direct partnerships, warehouse operations and expertise become paramount to success. With a focus on leadership and acquisitions, NDC’s distribution footprint expands from one warehouse (2017) to nine warehouses (2019).

Bolstering Infusion Offering
Wolf Medical Supply acquires Clinical Resources, Inc. (CRI), specializing in fluid delivery devices to the home infusion and medical equipment industry. The addition of infusion pump rentals, repairs and preventative maintenance augments Wolf Medical’s infusion offering through its biomedical division

Third Recapitalization
Court Square successfully sells its investment in NDC to Platinum Equity, a global investment firm with approximately $23 billion of assets under management.

Aligning Post-Acute Services
